The DeLorean

We didn't live in the same town for most of our lives, yet each time I would see Glen, it was as if no time had passed at all. To me, being younger, he looked the same, talked the same and treated me the same as he always had---he was just my cousin, Glen. It was in Palmdale, around 1992 and he stopped by to visit us. I got a big kick out of seeing him drive up in an odd-looking 'Back to the Future' car--a huge hit with my kids! He was smiling & happy, like a little boy with a new toy, showing me the stainless steel body, telling me how much more resistant to corrosion it was than paint. And when he opened the wing-like doors to let me get inside, I caught some of his excitement. The car was very unusual and no one else in the Antelope Valley had one, as far as I knew. I knew Glen loved that... He drove around Desert View Highlands for about 20 minutes, while we chatted about the latest news in our respective lives and then he brought me back to our house. As I watched him drive away in the Delorean (which, by the way, is not very comfortable to ride in) I thought 'He's just the same...my cousin, Glen.'
